The historic Polish capital, a place of many important historical events, a city full of symbols, magic and poetry. Here history is interlaced with modernity, here you can explore many monuments which have arisen over the centuries, as well as participate in many cultural events and festivals. The ancient city of Polish kings thanks to fortunate coincidences has always been saved from the ravages of circumstances during many wars and fires. It also has not had too many drastic changes and was never rebuilt, so now it gives an impression that time has stopped here. Still now we can follow the Royal Route as did the kings, to the Wawel Castle – the historical hill, to the Royal Castle and the Royal Cathedral of St. Wenceslaus and St. Stanislaus. We can walk past the preserved part of the city walls, the Barbican and Saint Florian’s Gate, the house of Jan Matejko, the Basilica of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, with its magnificent high altar made by Veit Stoss and the Archdiocesan Museum of Cardinal Karol Wojtyla.
This way to the Castle, is also a part of the former trade route, so we can see objects and places associated with the trade: the Main Market Square – the former market, the majestic figure of the Cloth Hall, and a number of buildings – the former merchants’ houses. As it has been for ages, also today, many students come to Krakow to study at the Jagiellonian University, which is one of the oldest universities in Europe. Speaking short: everyone who comes here, will find something interesting.
I offer tours around various parts of Krakow: the Old Town (the Royal Route and others) and the districts of Kazimierz, Podgórze and Nowa Huta.
